Psychology calculators & self-scoring tests

Every tool here does the same three things: asks a short set of items, sums them the way the underlying framework does, and tells you which band you landed in and what that band usually means. No sign-up, no email wall, nothing stored — scoring happens in your browser.

These are screening and reflection tools, not diagnoses. A score is a conversation starter for a clinician, not a verdict. If you are in crisis in the US, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), any time, free and confidential.

How to read any score on this site

The band matters more than the number

A 12 and a 13 are the same clinical picture. Bands exist because raw scores are noisy — a bad week moves most screeners by several points without anything underlying having changed.

Change over time beats a single reading

Two scores four weeks apart tell you far more than one score today. That is how these questionnaires are used in practice: to track direction, not to label people.

The highest single item is the useful detail

Every tool surfaces your top-scoring item. Bring that specific thing to a doctor or therapist — concrete examples get better help than "I've been off lately".

Impairment is what makes something clinical

The question that turns symptoms into a diagnosis is whether they interfere with work, study, relationships or self-care. No questionnaire can answer that for you.

Frequently asked questions

Are these psychology tests accurate?
They are educational self-scoring tools built on published, widely used frameworks — not licensed clinical instruments and not diagnoses. What they do reliably is turn a vague feeling into a number and a band you can bring to a professional, which is exactly how screening questionnaires are meant to be used.
Is my data stored?
No. Every score is computed in your browser. Nothing you enter is transmitted, saved, or attached to you, and there is no sign-up.
Which test should I start with?
If you are not sure, start with the PHQ-9 and GAD-7 — depression and anxiety are the two most common presentations and the two your doctor is most likely to screen for. If the issue is clearly situational, pick the cluster that matches: work, relationships, parenting or attention.
Can a website diagnose a mental health condition?
No, and any site claiming otherwise should be closed. Diagnosis requires a clinician assessing duration, impairment, history and alternative explanations. A questionnaire score is one input among many.
What do the severity bands mean?
Each tool sums its items into a raw score and maps it to a band — typically minimal, mild, moderate and severe. The bands follow the cut-points published for the underlying framework where one exists, and are otherwise even splits of the range.
How often should I retake them?
Symptom screeners respond in weeks, so every two to four weeks is useful for tracking a change. Personality and life-satisfaction scales barely move — twice a year is plenty.
