About this calculator
Soffit and fascia are quoted per linear foot of roof edge, and the two are usually replaced together because getting to one means removing the other. Fascia is the vertical board the gutters hang on; soffit is the horizontal underside of the overhang that ventilates the attic. Cost depends on material (aluminum and vinyl are the volume choices, wood costs more and needs painting, fiber cement more still), the depth of the overhang, and how high off the ground the eaves are — anything above a single story means scaffolding or lifts and higher labor. This calculator prices each run separately and adds a height multiplier. 2026 US national averages run roughly $8-$25 per linear foot installed for each, so a typical 180-foot perimeter often lands between $3,000 and $7,000 for both.

FAQ
Do soffit and fascia have to be replaced together?
Not always, but usually — the fascia board sits at the outer edge of the soffit, so replacing one means disturbing the other, and doing them separately means paying twice for setup and gutter removal.
Should I add vented soffit?
If your attic relies on soffit intake ventilation, yes. Continuous vented panels are barely more expensive than solid ones and prevent the moisture and ice-dam problems that rotted the original boards in the first place.
Does this include gutters?
No. Gutters typically must come off to replace fascia and are frequently replaced at the same time, which adds roughly $8-$20 per linear foot for standard aluminum K-style.
