About this calculator
Double-booking — taking a second client during another client's color processing or perm setting time — is standard practice for busy colorists, but it's easy to either underuse it (leaving money on the table) or overuse it (creating a stressful, lower-quality client experience). This calculator takes your service's active work time and processing time, and computes how many additional clients per day you could serve by using processing windows for a second client, along with the additional daily revenue that represents. It also flags a realistic ceiling: most experienced colorists sustainably double-book 1.3-1.6 clients concurrently, not a full 2x, because active work time still has to happen in real sequence.

FAQ
What double-booking ratio is realistic?
1.3-1.6x is the realistic sustainable range for most colorists — meaning roughly one extra client for every two to three you'd normally serve. Going above 1.6-1.7x usually means clients start waiting too long during their processing window, hurting satisfaction and rebooking rate even as raw revenue rises.
Does double-booking hurt service quality?
It can if active work time gets rushed or a client sits in a chair with no attention for too long. The key is that processing time (color developing, perm setting) genuinely doesn't need the stylist present, so double-booking works when it fills true dead time rather than compressing active hands-on work.
Which services double-book best?
Color services with 20+ minute processing windows (single process, balayage toner, perms) double-book well. Services that are continuously hands-on the whole time (most haircuts, many blowouts) don't have true dead time to fill and shouldn't be double-booked at all.
