FAQ

What margin should a nail service target after labor?

After both product and technician labor cost, 30-45% net margin is healthy for a service-based nail business, since this margin still needs to cover rent, utilities, and other overhead before profit. Gel manicures often land at the higher end of that range; complex nail art or long acrylic fills sit lower unless priced up for the extra time.

Why include labor cost, not just product cost?

Product-cost-only margin looks great on every service (often 85-92%) but hides the real economics, since technician time is the actual constraint on how many services a salon can sell in a day. Two services with identical product cost but very different time requirements have very different true margins.

How do I price nail art add-ons?
