How do I know how many artists I need?
Divide party size by the number of artists, multiply by average per-person service time, and compare against the available window (usually the gap between call time and when the photographer needs the bride ready). If that number exceeds the window, add an artist or start earlier.
Why does the bride usually take longer than bridesmaids?
Bridal makeup and hair typically involves more intricate styling, touch-ups for photos, and airbrush application, running 75-90 minutes versus 45-60 for bridesmaids. Schedule the bride either first (so touch-ups happen naturally through the morning) or last per most artists' preference — but always budget more time for that slot.
What's a reasonable artist pay share of revenue?
40%-55% is typical when the artist is a contractor paid per service and the lead artist/business owner covers product, licensing, travel coordination, and booking overhead. Employees on hourly wages instead of a revenue share need this modeled as a labor cost, not a percentage.
Should trials be required for bridal bookings?
