About this calculator
Sod is sold by the pallet, and a standard pallet covers 400 to 500 square feet depending on the grower and slab size, so a 3,000 square foot lawn is typically six to eight pallets. Beyond the sod itself, the two costs people forget are soil prep — tilling, grading, and often a half inch of topsoil or compost — and delivery, which is charged per pallet or per trip because pallets weigh 2,000-3,000 pounds each. This calculator converts your area into pallets and pieces with a waste factor for curved edges, then totals sod, prep, starter fertilizer, delivery, and optional installation labor.

How many pallets of sod for 3,000 square feet?

How soon do I have to lay sod after delivery?

Do I need topsoil under sod?
