About this calculator

Wedding budgets fail when the venue quietly eats half of everything. This allocates a total across standard categories using typical US percentages, then shows the per-guest cost so you can see what trimming the list is worth.

FormulaCategory budget = total × category share; per-guest = (venue + catering + bar) ÷ guests.

FAQ

How much buffer should I keep?

Five to ten percent unallocated is realistic. Overtime, vendor meals, and last-minute rentals show up on almost every final invoice.

What is the fastest way to cut cost?

Guest count. Venue, catering, bar, rentals, and stationery all scale with headcount, so removing twenty guests usually saves more than switching any single vendor.

Accuracy and limitations

  • Results are estimates before tax, fees, and inflation unless an input explicitly covers them.
  • Rates are treated as fixed for the whole period — variable-rate products will drift from this projection.
  • This is educational maths, not financial advice. Check anything contractual with the lender or your accountant.
