About this calculator
Table and chair count for a seated event is simply your guest count divided by how many people fit at each table, rounded up, with one chair per guest. This calculator also checks whether your venue floor space is large enough for the resulting table count at standard spacing.

How many chairs and tables do I need?
For 80 guests at 8 seats per round table, you need 10 tables and 80 chairs, requiring roughly 1,000 sq ft of floor space at 100 sq ft per table including walkway room.
How much floor space does a round table really need?
A standard 60-inch round table seating 8 needs about 100 sq ft when you include enough walkway clearance around it for guests and servers to move comfortably.
Should I round table count up or down?
Always round up — a partially filled table is fine, but you can't seat guests at a table that doesn't exist, so always over-provision by at least one table for last-minute additions.
Does seats-per-table change with table shape?
Yes — an 8-foot rectangular banquet table typically seats 8-10, while a 60-inch round seats 8; using the wrong shape's capacity assumption can throw off your table count noticeably.
