About this calculator

A band's quote rarely includes everything a DJ's does. Add sound reinforcement, extra power, meals for eight musicians, and a longer load-in, and the true gap is usually wider than the headline prices suggest.

FormulaTotal = base + sound/lighting + (meals × people) + overtime hours × overtime rate + travel.

FAQ

Do bands really need separate sound?

Often yes. Many bands carry a system sized for their own instruments but not for speeches, dancing coverage, or an outdoor ceremony, so a separate provider gets added.

Are vendor meals required?

Most contracts require a hot meal for each performer and crew member over a certain call time. At eight people that is a real line item.

Accuracy and limitations

  • Results are estimates before tax, fees, and inflation unless an input explicitly covers them.
  • Rates are treated as fixed for the whole period — variable-rate products will drift from this projection.
  • This is educational maths, not financial advice. Check anything contractual with the lender or your accountant.
