  "description": "Chair utilization is the salon-level equivalent of hotel occupancy: it measures how much of your available capacity is being sold. Multiply the number of chairs by operating hours to get total available chair-hours for a period, then divide booked chair-hours into that to get utilization. Salons rarely run above 70-75% utilization in normal operation because gaps between clients, no-shows, and slow periods are structural, not a failure. This calculator also converts unused capacity into a dollar figure using your average revenue per chair-hour, showing owners exactly what an extra 10 points of utilization is worth before deciding whether to add staff, extend hours, or invest in marketing to fill the gap.",
