  "summary": "Check whether you have enough pipeline to hit your sales target.",
  "description": "Quota coverage ratio compares total qualified pipeline value against the sales quota for the period, telling you whether there's enough opportunity in the funnel to realistically hit the number given typical win rates. A common rule of thumb is 3x coverage — if your average win rate on qualified opportunities is roughly 25-33%, you need about three dollars of pipeline for every dollar of quota to have a reasonable statistical shot at making the number, accounting for deals that slip, stall, or get lost along the way. Lower win-rate motions (competitive enterprise sales, longer cycles) need higher coverage, sometimes 4-5x, while high-velocity, high-win-rate motions (warm inbound, strong product-market fit) can operate efficiently at 2-2.5x. Coverage ratio should be tracked at the individual rep level, not just company-wide, since an average that looks healthy can hide reps sitting well under coverage who are about to miss quota while others sit comfortably over — and it should be measured against pipeline generated early enough in the quarter to actually close, not pipeline created in the final two weeks that has no time to mature.",

  "faq": [
    {
      "q": "Why is 3x the common coverage target?",
      "a": "It roughly matches a 30-33% win rate, a common benchmark for qualified B2B pipeline, while leaving margin for deals that slip out of the quarter or get disqualified after being counted. If your actual win rate differs, the math changes — the 'required coverage' output here recalculates the true minimum for your specific win rate."
    },
    {
      "q": "Should I count all pipeline or only 'qualified' pipeline?",
      "a": "Only pipeline that's passed a real qualification bar (budget, authority, need, timeline confirmed, not just 'a meeting happened'). Counting unqualified leads as pipeline inflates coverage ratios and gives false confidence — it's one of the most common ways sales orgs fool themselves about hitting the number."
    },
    {
      "q": "What if my coverage ratio is below what's required?",
      "a": "You have a math problem before you have a sales-execution problem — no amount of closing skill fixes a pipeline shortfall. The fix is more top-of-funnel activity (SDR output, marketing-sourced leads, partner referrals) generated with enough lead time to mature before the period ends, not last-minute pressure on reps."
    },
    {
      "q": "Does coverage ratio account for deal timing within the quarter?",
      "a": "Not by itself — a 3x ratio built entirely from pipeline created in the last two weeks of the quarter is functionally worthless since those deals have no time to progress through a normal sales cycle. Always check pipeline age and stage distribution alongside the raw ratio."
