This calculator multiplies meals and snacks served per day by their respective reimbursement rates and days served per month to estimate total reimbursement, then compares it to your actual food and labor cost for meal prep to show net program margin or shortfall. CACFP has three reimbursement tiers based on area or family income data (commonly referred to as free, reduced, and paid rates), and centers serving a higher share of lower-income families draw a materially higher blended rate — get your center's actual tier mix from your sponsoring organization rather than assuming the top tier for all children, since that will overstate reimbursement.",
