      "a": "Yes — completing a phase of the FAA WINGS Pilot Proficiency Program, passing a checkride for any new certificate or rating, or completing military proficiency checks can satisfy the flight review requirement in lieu of the standalone 1+1 hour review, and WINGS phases can sometimes be done at lower incremental cost since they're often built around normal recurrent training you'd do anyway."

      "q": "Why do CFIs rarely stop at exactly one hour of flight time?",
      "a": "One hour is barely enough to cover a few maneuvers and a couple of landings, and most CFIs want to see stalls, steep turns, slow flight, an emergency procedure, and pattern work at minimum, which realistically takes 1.3-2 hours depending on how current and proficient the pilot already is. A pilot who hasn't flown in 18+ months should budget toward the higher end."

      "a": "It's due by the end of the 24th calendar month after your last flight review or qualifying event, counted to the last day of that month, not the exact anniversary date. This gives a small buffer — if your review was completed in March two years ago, you have until the end of March this cycle, not just the specific day."

      "a": "Yes, a single flight review satisfies the recency requirement to act as PIC across all the certificates and ratings you hold, as long as the instructor is qualified to give instruction in the category/class of aircraft used, though most CFIs will tailor content toward whichever aircraft you fly most or plan to fly next."
